The hotel business was present in Pakistan since its independence in 194 In Pakistan this industry contributes a significant proportion to the country’s economy. The hotel business of Pakistan shares a large portion of the country’s revenue. Previously, there were not many hotels in the country but as the time passed, Pakistan witnessed continuous establishment of local and international hotels. One of an early example is The Hotel Mehran. The Avari Towers situated in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Dubai; rose as a noticeable hotel chain.
There are only some major five star hotels which are currently operating efficiently in Pakistan. A few of that are; Pearl Continental, Marriott, Avari Towers, Sheraton Hotel, Serena Hotel and Carlton Hotel. The biggest development in the hotel business was witnessed in the late 80s and in early the 90s. The approximate statistic of the hotels in Pakistan has elevated from 845 in 1991 to 1,150 in 1996, portraying an immense growth of greater than 26% with the rapid advancement in the number of hotels seen in 1993 which dwindle off to 2.4% in 1995 before hiking up again in 1996. Anyhow, the business industry began to experience a downturn with time, generally due to government uncertainty and terrorism.
